A Study of Satisfaction Survey : Soldiers¡¯ Satisfaction with the Military Medical Service in the Division, Brigade, and Battalion Levels

Abstract
Purpose : Drawing upon data from Korean soldiers, this study purports to investigate the extent to which they are satisfied with the medical services on division, brigade, battalion levels and provide basic information for the improvement of medical services in the military divisions.

Method : From June 1, 2002 through June 30, 2002, this research was conducted visiting 8 division military medical services in the military medical centers. 354 subjects were recruited. Questionnaires used for this study were based on the Patient Judgement of Hospital Quality by Rubin(1980) and adapted to the specific circumstances of military division medical system. Data were analyzed using the SPSS (Windows Version 10.0).

Results : Results showed that to increase satisfaction level of soldiers with division military medical service system, the following should be considered : To lesson waiting time ; to teach diseases, prognosis, and prevention ; to provide and use modern medical equipments ; to offer medical soldiers a program on how to behave kindly ; to provide soups and welfare facilities. In order to improve the medical services in the division level, we need to take into account the use of authorized personnel such as nursing officers as part of such an attempt.

Conclusion : These findings suggest further research should be more conduct to be quality improvement military medical system, and thus to increase satisfaction level of soldiers. Future research into the military medical service on a division level should be focused on division levels.
